Cookie Dough Base:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 medium eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk chocolate chips or semi-sweet chocolate chips
Caramel Sauce:
- 14 ounces caramels, unwrapped
- 5 ounces canned evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- Prepare the Cookie Dough Base – Preheat oven to 375°F. Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla.
- Add the Eggs and Vanilla – Beat eggs in one at a time. Stir in vanilla.
- Combine the Dry Ingredients – Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture.
- Mix in the Chocolate Chips – Fold in chocolate chips.
- Bake the First Layer – Spread half of dough in pan and bake.
- Make the Caramel Sauce – Heat caramels and milk, stirring until smooth.
- Add Peanut Butter to the Caramel – Stir in peanut butter until smooth.
- Assemble the Bars – Layer caramel over baked dough, top with remaining dough.
- Finish Baking – Bake until golden and set.
- Cool and Serve – Cool, slice, and enjoy!
Notes
- For a twist, sprinkle sea salt over the caramel layer before adding the top dough.
