Ingredients

Scale

Seafood

  • 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped
  • 1 cup lump crab meat, drained

Dairy & Cheese

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Seasonings & Aromatics

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions or chives, chopped (divided)
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning or Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • ½ tsp hot sauce (optional)

Serving

  • Sliced toasted baguette or crackers for serving

Instructions

  1. Mix the Creamy Base: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, minced garlic, Old Bay seasoning, salt, black pepper, and optional hot sauce. Whip together until the mixture is smooth and creamy, forming the base for the dip.
  2. Fold in Seafood & Cheese: Gently fold the chopped cooked shrimp, lump crab meat, half of the shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and half of the chopped chives or green onions into the creamy base. This helps keep the seafood texture intact and distributes the flavors evenly.
  3. Bake It Melty: Spread the seafood and cheese mixture evenly into an oven-safe baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese evenly over the top. Place it in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot, bubbly, and lightly golden.
  4. Broil for Bonus Gold: For an extra golden and slightly crispy crust, place the baked dip under the broiler for 1 to 2 minutes. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  5. Garnish & Serve: Remove the dip from the oven and sprinkle the remaining chopped chives or green onions over the top. Serve immediately with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

  • The dip can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator, then baked just before serving.
  • Use fresh lump crab meat for best flavor, but canned crab can be substituted if needed.
  • Adjust the hot sauce amount to suit your preferred spice level.
  • To keep the dip warm for a longer period, use a warming tray or slow cooker set on low after baking.
  • For a gluten-free option, serve with gluten-free crackers or vegetable sticks.
