Ingredients

Scale

Pasta and Chicken

  • 8 ounces Penne pasta
  • 2 cups Cooked chicken, shredded

Sauce and Seasonings

  • 2 cups Alfredo sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Cheese

  • 1 cup Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan cheese

Garnish

  • 1/4 cup Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the pasta bake.
  2. Cook Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare Chicken: Shred cooked chicken if not already shredded. Use leftover chicken or rotisserie chicken for convenience.
  4. Make Alfredo Sauce (Optional): To make homemade Alfredo sauce, combine heavy cream, butter, garlic, and Parmesan cheese in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until cheese melts and sauce thickens slightly. Alternatively, use store-bought Alfredo sauce.
  5. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked pasta, shredded chicken, Alfredo sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well to evenly coat all ingredients.
  6. Assemble: Transfer the pasta mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading evenly. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Serve: Let cool for a few minutes, then garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute penne pasta with other pasta shapes like rigatoni or fusilli that hold sauce well.
  • Use rotisserie chicken to save time or cook your own chicken breasts for freshness.
  • For a lighter version, use reduced-fat cheese and Alfredo sauce.
  • Make the dish ahead and refrigerate before baking; increase baking time slightly if baking cold.
  • Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven or microwave.
