Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup salted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 egg yolks, at room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla bean paste or extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Mix-Ins

  • 1/2 cup red and green M&M’s
  • 1/3 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup pretzel pieces
  • 1/3 cup potato chip pieces
  • 2 tbsp red and green jimmies

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set them aside for the cookie dough.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, add the softened salted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated white sugar. Use an electric mixer to cream them together for about two minutes until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
  3. Add Egg Yolks and Vanilla: Add the two room temperature egg yolks and vanilla bean paste or extract to the creamed butter mixture. Mix on medium speed for two minutes until the batter is pale in color and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into the wet mixture. Mix just until combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Fold in Mix-Ins: Gently fold in the red and green M&M’s, white chocolate chips, pretzel pieces, potato chip pieces, and the red and green jimmies with a spatula until everything is evenly distributed through the dough.
  6. Form Cookie Balls: Scoop the dough into 20 equal-sized balls using a cookie scoop or spoon. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart.
  7. Add Extra Mix-Ins (Optional): For extra festive look, optionally add a few more M&M’s, pretzels, or jimmies directly on top of each cookie dough ball before baking.
  8. Bake Cookies: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. Bake for 10 minutes if you prefer chewier centers, or 12 minutes for crisper edges.
  9. Shape Cookies (Optional): Right out of the oven, use a large circular cookie cutter to gently swirl around the edges of each cookie. This helps push the ingredients together and gives the cookies a perfect round shape.
  10. Cool Cookies: Allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheets before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely for an additional 10 minutes.
  11. Store Leftovers: Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh for up to three days.

Notes

  • For best results, make sure your butter is softened but not melted before mixing.
  • Using vanilla bean paste will give a more intense vanilla flavor, but pure vanilla extract works well too.
  • The mix of salty pretzels and potato chips with sweet chocolate creates a delicious balance of flavors.
  • Customize mix-ins as desired. You can add nuts or different candies if preferred.
  • These cookies can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • If you prefer crunchier cookies, bake closer to 12 minutes; for softer, chewier cookies, bake for 10 minutes.
