Ingredients
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls (8 Count) or 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Dough Sheet
- 2 1/2 slices American cheese, quartered (2.5 oz)
- 1 package (10 count) Oscar Mayer™ Classic Wieners Hot Dogs
- Cooking spray
- Mustard or ketchup, if desired
- Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the mummy dogs.
- Prepare Dough Rectangles: For crescent rolls, unroll the dough and separate into 4 rectangles by pressing the perforations closed. For dough sheet, unroll and cut into 4 rectangles.
- Cut Dough Strips: Use a knife or pizza cutter to cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 strips approximately 1/2 inch (1 cm) wide, yielding about 40 dough strips total.
- Prep Cheese: Slice cheese into quarters to create 2.5 oz of small squares for wrapping.
- Wrap Hot Dogs: Wrap 4 dough strips and 1/4 slice of cheese around each hot dog, slightly stretching dough to fully cover, mimicking mummy bandages.
- Create the Face: Leave about 1/2 inch uncovered at one end of each hot dog to reveal the ‘face.’
- Arrange for Baking: Place wrapped hot dogs cheese side down on an ungreased large cookie sheet and lightly spray dough with cooking spray.
- Bake: Bake for 13 to 17 minutes until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are heated through.
- Add Features: Use a toothpick dipped in mustard or ketchup to draw spooky mummy faces on each hot dog.
Notes
- Be careful not to wrap the dough too tightly as it will expand while baking.
- Let the crescent rolls come to room temperature for easier handling.
- You can substitute American cheese with cheddar or a cheese of your choice.
- For a vegetarian version, use vegetarian hot dogs and appropriate dough.
- Serve with mustard, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauces for extra flavor.
