Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (lean, 90/10)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 5 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (gluten-free if needed)
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder or minced onion

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: In a medium skillet over medium heat, combine the ground beef and water. Break the beef into fine, crumbled pieces using a potato masher or meat chopper while it cooks to ensure a fine texture.
  2. Drain Excess Liquid: Once fully browned, drain off any remaining water or grease from the skillet to avoid excess liquid in the chili.
  3. Transfer to Slow Cooker: Place the cooked beef into your slow cooker, distributing it evenly.
  4. Add Remaining Ingredients: Add tomato sauce, ketchup, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, black pepper, sugar, and onion powder into the slow cooker with the beef. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients well.
  5. Slow Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 2 to 2½ hours to allow the flavors to meld and the chili to thicken.
  6. Serve: Spoon the hot dog chili generously over hot dogs, fries, burgers, or your favorite dishes. Enjoy immediately.
