- 2 tsp ground cinnamon (plus more to taste)
- 1 tsp ground black pepper (plus more to taste)
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1/8 tsp ground clove (optional)
Paste Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp melted coconut oil
- 3–4 Tbsp maple syrup (or other sweetener of choice, or omit and sweeten golden milk to taste upon preparation)
- 1–2 Tbsp hot water
Golden Milk Drink
- 1 ½ tsp Golden Milk Paste
- 1 cup dairy-free milk
- More sweetener to taste (optional)
- Make the spice mix: In a small jar, combine ground turmeric, ginger powder, cinnamon, black pepper, nutmeg, and clove if using. Shake or stir the spices thoroughly to ensure they are evenly mixed.
- Create the paste: Add melted coconut oil, maple syrup, and hot water (starting with the minimum amount) to the spice mix. Stir well until a smooth paste forms. Adjust the water quantity as needed to reach the desired consistency.
- Prepare hot golden milk: In a small saucepan, whisk 1 ½ teaspoons of Golden Milk Paste with 1 cup of dairy-free milk. Heat over medium heat until just hot or warm, but do not boil. Taste and add additional sweetener if preferred.
- Prepare iced golden milk: Add 1 ½ teaspoons of Golden Milk Paste and 1 cup of dairy-free milk to a jar with a lid. Shake vigorously to combine. Fill a glass with large ice cubes and pour the shaken golden milk over the ice before serving.
- Store the paste: Keep the Golden Milk Paste refrigerated for up to 1 month. For frequent use, double the batch. You can also freeze the paste in an ice cube tray for easy portioning and storage.
Notes
