Ingredients

Scale

For the Orange Chicken Sauce:

  • 2/3 cup 100% orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha

For the Chicken:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup white whole wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (or more, if needed)
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • Fresh orange zest, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Orange Chicken Sauce: In a bowl, mix together orange juice, soy sauce, honey, and sriracha. Set aside.
  2. Bread the Chicken: Whisk eggs in a bowl. In another bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, and salt. Coat chicken slices in egg wash, then flour mixture.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Cook coated chicken in coconut oil until fully cooked. Remove from pan.
  4. Make the Sauce: In the same pan, combine sauce ingredients and cornstarch. Cook until thickened.
  5. Combine and Serve: Add chicken back to the pan, coat with sauce, and toss with orange zest and sesame seeds. Serve with grains and veggies.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, you can bake the chicken instead of frying it.
  • Adjust the spiciness by increasing or decreasing the amount of sriracha.
