Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Layering:

  • 5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.7 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.7 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13 inch pan with cooking spray.
  2. Cooking the Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onions, and garlic until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Layering: Arrange a layer of sliced potatoes in the prepared pan, followed by half of the cooked beef mixture.
  4. Soup Mixture: Combine the cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, milk, and evaporated milk. Pour half of the mixture over the beef layer and sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
  5. Repeat Layers: Add another layer of potatoes, beef, soup mixture, and cheese. Top with the remaining cheese.
  6. Baking: Cover the pan with foil, tenting it to prevent cheese from sticking. Bake for 1 hour, then uncover and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  7. Serving: Let the casserole stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
