    For the Shrimp:

  • 1 pound large shrimp, (thawed, peeled, deveined, tail-on)
  • 1 cup (245 g) buttermilk
  • For the Seasoned Flour:

  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • For Frying:

  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • ½ cup (170 g) hot honey (homemade or store-bought)
  • For Garnish:

  • parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate shrimp in buttermilk: To a medium bowl, add shrimp and pour buttermilk over them. Ensure each shrimp is coated and marinate at room temperature for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Mix flour with seasonings: In a separate bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Set aside.
  3. Dredge shrimp in flour mixture: Remove shrimp from marinade, coat in seasoned flour mixture, and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Heat oil: Heat vegetable oil in a pot to 350°F.
  5. Fry shrimp: Fry coated shrimp in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
  6. Drizzle with hot honey: Remove fried shrimp, place on a lined baking sheet, and drizzle with hot honey.
  7. Serve: Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
