Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 1.5 lbs salmon fillet, cut into four equal pieces
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

Maple Pecan Glaze

  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp brown mustard
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ cup pecans, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to prepare for baking the salmon.
  2. Prepare and Bake Salmon: Arrange the salmon fillets skin side down on a greased or foil-lined baking pan. Brush the tops with olive oil and season evenly with salt and pepper. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  3. Make Maple Pecan Glaze: While the salmon is baking, combine the maple syrup, brown mustard, butter, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a low boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add Pecans and Cook: Stir in crushed pecans into the simmering glaze and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the pecans to slightly toast.
  5. Glaze and Serve: Spoon the warm maple pecan glaze evenly over the baked salmon fillets. Serve immediately to enjoy the combination of sweet, spicy, and crunchy textures.

Notes

  • To avoid sticking, line your baking pan with foil or parchment paper for easier cleanup.
  • The cayenne pepper adds a mild heat; adjust the amount to suit your taste preferences.
  • For a nut-free option, omit the pecans and increase the maple syrup slightly for sweetness.
  • Ensure not to overcook the salmon to maintain its moist and flaky texture.
  • The glaze can be prepared in advance and gently reheated before serving.
