Deliciously crispy Thai Chicken Bites coated in a seasoned flour and egg batter, fried to golden perfection, and tossed in a sweet chili sauce. Garnished with fresh cilantro, julienned carrots, and sesame seeds, these bites are perfect as an appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Coating

  • 1 large boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • Canola oil or peanut oil, for frying (about 1-2 inches in skillet)

Sauce and Garnishes

  • 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 carrot, julienned (for garnish)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Cut: Pour 1-2 inches of canola or peanut oil into a deep skillet and heat over medium heat until it reaches 350°F. While the oil heats, cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. Coat the Chicken: In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. In another shallow dish, whisk together the egg, milk, salt, and black pepper. Dip each piece of chicken first into the dry flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture, ensuring each piece is well coated.
  3. Fry the Chicken: Carefully add the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the chicken until golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side. Once cooked, remove the chicken pieces and drain on paper towels. Lightly sprinkle with salt while still warm.
  4. Toss and Serve: Transfer the fried chicken pieces to a large bowl and toss them thoroughly with the sweet chili sauce. Plate the chicken bites and garnish with sesame seeds, julienned carrot, and chopped fresh cilantro. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil temperature is maintained at 350°F for crispy, evenly cooked chicken bites.
  • Do not overcrowd the frying pan to prevent oil temperature from dropping.
  • Sweet chili sauce can be adjusted to taste or substituted with homemade chili garlic sauce.
  • Use fresh ingredients for garnishes to enhance flavor and presentation.
  • These bites can be served with a side of steamed rice or a simple salad for a complete meal.
