Brownie:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 ounces semisweet baking chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Tiramisu Topping:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. To make the brownies: Preheat the oven to 350 F. Grease and flour or line a 9×9-inch metal baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Melt chocolate and butter in a double boiler until smooth.
  4. Combine sugars with chocolate, whisk until smooth.
  5. Let chocolate mixture cool and then whisk in eggs one at a time.
  6. Stir in vanilla, then fold in flour mixture.
  7. Pour batter into pan and bake for 20-30 minutes.
  8. Cool brownies in the pan.
  9. For the topping: Dissolve espresso powder in heavy cream.
  10. Beat in mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla until fluffy.
  11. Spread mascarpone cream over brownies.
  12. Sift cocoa powder over the top.
  13. Chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour before serving.
