Ingredients

Scale

Turkey and Stuffing

  • 1 turkey (12-14 lbs)
  • 2 cups of stuffing
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Side Dishes

  • 1 cup of cranberry sauce
  • 4 cups of mixed vegetables (carrots, green beans, peas)

Pumpkin Puree Dish

  • 1 cup of pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for roasting the turkey and baking the pumpkin dish.
  2. Season Turkey: Thoroughly season the turkey inside and out with salt and pepper to enhance flavor.
  3. Stuff Turkey: Fill the turkey cavity evenly with 2 cups of stuffing, ensuring it is packed but not overly tight.
  4. Prepare for Roasting: Place the stuffed turkey in a roasting pan and cover it tightly with aluminum foil to retain moisture during cooking.
  5. Roast Turkey: Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for 3 hours. Remove the foil during the last 30 minutes to allow the skin to brown and crisp.
  6. Cook Vegetables: While turkey roasts, cook the mixed vegetables in a pot of boiling water or steam until tender, about 10-15 minutes, then drain and keep warm.
  7. Mix Pumpkin Dish: In a medium bowl, combine pumpkin puree, heavy cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar until well blended.
  8. Bake Pumpkin Dish: Transfer the pumpkin mixture to a baking dish and bake in the oven for 30 minutes until set and slightly caramelized on top.
  9. Serve: Carve the turkey and serve with stuffing, warm cranberry sauce, the baked pumpkin puree dish, and cooked mixed vegetables for a complete Thanksgiving meal.

Notes

  • Ensure the turkey is fully thawed before cooking for even roasting.
  • Use fresh or homemade stuffing for best flavor.
  • Adjust seasoning of the pumpkin puree mixture to taste and add a pinch of salt if desired.
  • Rest the turkey for 15-20 minutes after roasting to allow juices to redistribute before carving.
  • Try adding fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme to the stuffing for added aroma.
