Instructions

  3. Coat First Batch: Pour the melted pink candy over one bowl of Chex cereal and gently fold with a spatula to evenly coat all the cereal pieces. If the candy melts harden, microwave for another 15 seconds and stir again to maintain a smooth coating.
  4. Powder Sugar Coat Pink Mix: Transfer the coated cereal into a large ziplock bag, add half a cup of powdered sugar, seal, and shake well until fully coated. Spread the coated mix onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
  5. Melt Red Candy Coating: Repeat the melting process for the red candy melts with the remaining 1 teaspoon vegetable oil in the microwave until smooth and creamy.
  6. Coat Second Batch: Pour the melted red candy over the remaining bowl of Chex cereal, fold gently to coat evenly. Transfer to a ziplock bag with the remaining 1/2 cup powdered sugar, shake to coat, then spread on the same wax paper-lined baking sheet.
  7. Set the Muddy Buddies: Let both coated mixes sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to allow the candy coating to set and harden slightly.
