4.7 from 87 reviews

Delightfully spooky and fun, these Mummy Rice Krispie Treats combine classic marshmallow cereal treats with white chocolate and candy eyes to create a festive Halloween-themed dessert that’s easy to make and loved by all ages.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Treats:

  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 5 1/2 cups mini marshmallows or 1 10 oz. bag of mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Decorations:

  • 8 oz. white chocolate; melted or melting candy
  • 20 candy eyeballs or mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Make the base Rice Krispie Treats: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted and smooth.
  2. Combine with cereal: Remove the saucepan from heat and add the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir gently until the cereal is fully coated with the melted marshmallow mixture.
  3. Set the mixture: Butter a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Evenly press the Rice Krispie mixture into the pan using a buttered spatula or buttered wax paper to keep it from sticking to your hands. Chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to firm up.
  4. Cut into pieces: Once set, use a sharp knife to cut the treats into 10 rectangular pieces, preparing them for decoration.
  5. Melt white chocolate: Place white chocolate or melting candy into a microwave-safe bowl and heat according to package instructions until smooth.
  6. Attach eyes: Using the back of a candy eyeball, dab a small amount of melted white chocolate and attach each eye onto the Rice Krispie pieces to create mummy faces. Repeat for all 10 treats.
  7. Create mummy wraps: Transfer melted white chocolate into a ziplock bag and cut a small corner slit. Drizzle the chocolate randomly over the treats to mimic mummy wraps.
  8. Set the decoration: Allow the chocolate to harden at room temperature or place treats in the refrigerator to speed up the setting process before serving.

Notes

  • Use buttered utensils or wax paper to prevent sticking when pressing the mixture into the pan.
  • For a fun variation, try using colored candy melts instead of white chocolate for vibrant mummy wraps.
  • If candy eyeballs are unavailable, mini chocolate chips make a suitable substitute.
  • Keep the treats stored in an airtight container to maintain freshness, ideally consumed within 2 days.
